Hi, I’m Nathan Hinckley!
This December, I’ll be running 12 marathons in 12 days. It’s a huge challenge, physically and mentally, but I’m doing it for a reason that matters deeply to me.
I’m raising funds for The Young Lives Foundation, to help bring back their Maidstone youth group for young people in care and those facing difficult circumstances. The group had to close because of funding cuts, and for many of the young people who attended, it was one of the few places where they felt understood, supported, and safe.
My goal is to raise £5,000, enough to reopen the Maidstone group. If we can do that, these young people will have somewhere to go again, somewhere to talk, to be themselves, and to feel like they matter. I’ll also be volunteering with the group once it’s back up and running.
Although I grew up in a stable home, I still struggled with confidence and my mental health. I know how heavy those feelings can be even with support around you. For young people in care, those challenges can be even harder. Many face uncertainty most of us will never experience, wondering where they’ll live next, who will look after them, or whether anyone believes in them at all.
Everyone deserves the chance to feel supported and to see a future they can be proud of.
If you had told a younger version of me that I’d one day attempt 12 marathons in 12 days, he wouldn’t have believed it. I’m doing this to show young people, especially those who feel overlooked or unheard, that they are capable of more than they realise, and that difficult beginnings don’t define your future.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for any support you can give.
Every donation genuinely helps create a space where these young people can feel valued again.
